Good morning, Moguls/Mogulettes!
We have reached the end of our 31-Day Personal Growth Challenge! Has it really been a whole month? It seems like I was just taking finals and starting on Day 1! I just want to say, congratulations to every one who stuck to their commitments and completed this journey! Doesn't it feel good? You should be proud of yourselves! Give yourself a pat on the back.
Oh...and just because the Challenge is over, doesn't mean that you should stop working on yourself!!
This Challenge was only the first step towards a better you. Remember what we said about consistency? If you aren't seeing the results you want, then maybe you're not being as consistent as you should be! You're already off to an awesome 31-Day start! Don't lose that momentum!!
Please be sure keep in mind that working on yourself is INVESTING in yourself. You want to do everything you can to make sure you see a return!
For those of you have been on this journey with me since Day 1... thank you for allowing me this opportunity to lead you down this path of personal growth and development. For my late comers, thank you for giving it a try! I really appreciate the support and encouragement!
I so hope that everyone was able to learn a little something about themselves and how to shape and elevate your life/ yourself into the very best that it/you can possibly be.
Now, let us reflect on our journey for a moment. Then I want to share some words of affirmation with you all, and then i'll say a few closing words to wrap us up!
To recap, let's take a look at what some of our objectives were for this Personal Growth Challenge.
By the end of our Challenge, you should have (hopefully):
Now these are just the general objectives. On the first day of our Challenge, you guys created a specific list of goals/expectations for this month. Pull those back out for me. Let's compare.
Did you learn what you wanted to learn about yourself? Were your expectations met? Track your growth! This is my favorite part!! Now we can look back and say, "look how far I've come."
If, for some reason, you did not accomplish everything on your list from Day 1, then hopefully you now have the tools to do so on your own.
Words of Affirmation:
Speak these with me--
I am progressing. It is important that I don't let set backs knock me off of my path towards greatness. I will remember that life comes in waves of good days and bad, but as long as I am moving forward and pressing on, I am okay.
I am focused. I have complete control over how I direct and use my focus. I will use my focus to give me the momentum I need to take daily actions towards my goals. I have a desired outcome, and I will focus on achieving my end goal.
I am brave. I will not let the fear of getting started hold me back. I have the courage to try, fail, and try again. I know how to identify my weaknesses, and turn them into strengths. I am unafraid of putting myself in new or hard situations, because I know that I can handle it.
I am calculated. I will say no to anything that will get in the way of me reaching my goals. I will calculate every risk, so that I am better prepared to prevent them from happening. I will calculate my decisions, so that I can move forward with confidence and assuredness.
I am enough. It is important that I know that I AM enough. I will not let self-doubt or negativity distract me. I will let go of who I think I should be, in order to appreciate who I am, and who I have become. I am, in this moment, more than enough.
It is important to me that you guys remember how critical your MENTAL, PHYSICAL, and EMOTIONAL health are to you and your performance in life. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES. IN EVERY WAY. Allow yourself to develop your full potential. You deserve it!!
I am, as always, open to and would LOVE your feedback on how this experience was for you! Was it beneficial? Do you feel like you've grown at all? Do you have questions about how you might continue to work on yourself? Maybe something I should have done differently? Please don't hesitate to contact me on here or on any social media platform! I look forward to hearing from you guys!
Again, thank you so much for participating!!
Be on the lookout for more from #TheCorporetteGoddess! Now that I am out of Challenge mode, you can expect to see more of my general success posts such as "Monday Motivation" "Thou Shalt Slay the Office," "Less Competition, More Collaboration," and "Working Woman Wednesday."
I wish you all the very best of luck on accomplishing your goals and chasing your dreams!💋✨
How are you this morning? Feeling a little sluggish?
I know it can be hard to get back in to your routine after a long weekend, but it's #TakeActionTuesday! What is your next move? Today is the day to take the next step. You've got this!! Let's approach this day with the intention ( see Day 16 ) to elevate ourselves & our lives!
With that idea of elevation in our minds, let's take a look at our challenge for Day 30!
Today, I want everyone to remove any and all negativity!
That means that there should be absolutely no negative thoughts about yourself or your life. That means that you don't participate in negative conversations about other people. It means that there should be no complaining. It means that you avoid negative vibes in general.
You're not being rude, or mean. You're simply elevating yourself. Vibrating on a higher level. Negativity is not allowed in your space.
There is nothing wrong with being picky about the energy that surrounds you! We want positive thoughts and positive actions around us so that we can create an environment that nourishes and benefits us.
Don't let negativity from yourself or from others threaten your intentions, your goals, or your joy. Positivity is a choice...all you have to do is choose it. Try your best to keep a positive outlook today!
DO NOT indulge negativity, and watch how your day and your life gets a little brighter.
If you didn't know, I am a huge believer in energy and vibrations. These things matter! How can you elevate your life if your being weighed down by all that negativity? Let it go.
Now watch how quickly you rise.
I'm going to leave you guys with this quote:
"A happy person is not one who's always in a good situation, but rather a person who always has a good attitude in every situation."
Best of luck with this Challenge!✨💋
Good morning! Happy Memorial Day!!
I hope everyone has some fun plans for today!! Hopefully you guys are all off of work and are able to enjoy this long weekend.
Even though it is a holiday, I want to remind every one that it is still a Monday. Which means that you should be creating-- or should have already created your weekly goal list! Don't let the day off distract you from what you need to get done!
Okay, okay. I'm done! Let's move on to our Challenge for Day 29!
What I am going to talk to you about today may sound a little strange, but I promise, there is a method to the madness.
Today's concept: starting before you're ready.
You're probably wondering what it is you should be starting. Well, I can't help you with that. Only you know the direction you want to take. It could be: starting a business, starting a new job, starting a website, starting a brand, etc.
Whatever it is you're aiming for, go ahead and shoot your shot before you are completely ready.
Actress Amy Poehler said:
"Great people do things before they're ready. They do things before they know they can do it. Getting out of your comfort zone, taking risks like that--that is what life is."
Friends, by that definition, let us be great.
Let us not get so caught up in preparing and learning everything you possibly can about your field. Yes, you should definitely do some research, but don't let that paralyze you. Keep moving forward! You will NEVER be fully prepared. Now is as good a time as any to get going!! Experience is the best teacher!
Side Note: You will probably jack some stuff up. Not even going to lie to you. I have made PLENTY of mistakes...but I'm glad I made them! Don't kick yourself when you're down. The important thing is that you learn how to improve and come back ten times harder. I pray that you recognize the value of mistakes...
I promise, you will learn as you go! There is nothing wrong with that! Anyone who walks around like they know everything they need to know and like they have it all together is putting up a front. Sorry, not sorry. No amount of research or preparation can compare to getting out there and actually doing it. Your biggest lessons will come from those mistakes and experiences! Utilize them.
Today, I want to challenge you to dive in head first. Whatever it is that you have been wanting to start, start it. That business? Those make up classes? That YouTube channel? Yeah. It's a great time to get started.
Best of luck with today's Challenge!✨💋
P.S. Today's blog post was co-authored by my adorableeeee niece, Drew Landyn Watkins! Her cute butt is helping me from her high chair. Man that kid is smart. Thank you for the help baby D!
Good morning, Moguls/Mogulettes!!
How are you this morning?! I hope everyone had a fun and relaxing Saturday!!
It's Day 28 of our Personal Growth Challenge! Why am I getting sentimental?!?! I can't believe it's almost over!! Awww man. I have so enjoyed working on these Challenges with you guys! You are all my accountability partners!
Okay, enough of the sentimental stuff. We are all here for today's Challenge, so let's go ahead and take a look.
To get us started today, I want you guys to consider this quote by Tom Robbins:
"Curiosity, especially intellectual inquisitiveness is what separates the truly alive from those who are merely going through the motions."
What is your interpretation? Do you agree? Disagree?
Friends, today I want to challenge you to be curious. More than that, I want to challenge you to EXPLORE and FEED off of your curiosity.
Explore a new place. Ask questions that you usually wouldn't ask. Learn something new. Try something new. Find interest in every thing you do. Never stop questioning. Never stop seeking a purpose.
I just cannot even emphasize how there are so many ways to use your curiosity to your benefit. It lays the foundation for self-discovery and joyful experience.
I believe that you will find that being curious not only feeds your creativity, but it opens you up to the wonderful things in this world. Our goal is to be passionately curious. Follow your curiosity...it may lead you to new perspectives and new heights!
If you aren't naturally curious, no worries. The beautiful thing about curiosity is that may be developed and nurtured. You can transform every day experiences into rich and fulfilling ones. You can create your own intrigue and wonder.
As Millennials, we are so fortunate to have access to all different kinds of information and technology and resources. Use them!! Be curious! GROW!
Remember: The future belongs to those who are curious and unafraid to go looking for it, to question it, and to explore it.
Best of luck with today's Challenge!
Hi Moguls/Mogulettes! Good morning!
Happy Saturday!! OMG, it's the last weekend of our Challenge! I can't believe this!! Time flies when you're having fun, I guess!
As usual, we will keep it short and sweet so I don't take up too much of your Memorial Day weekend!
Today's Challenge involves some writing, so go ahead and pull out your pen and paper (if you're old school) or just the notes on your phone (if you're new school). You may want to keep this with your goal list that we made on Day 1.
This will also be something you're going to want to keep up with long term, so make sure you have it in a safe place.
Friends, I am going to ask that you write not one, but two letters to your future self.
No questions asked, just write.
The first letter should be read a year from now. What kind of person are you? What changes have you made? Are you in the same position as you were this year? My hope is that we have all progressed by then.
What steps did you take to elevate your life? How far have you come? What traits are you lacking now, that you hope your future self will have? Is your future self more focused? Harder worker? Stronger? Healthier? Eh, you get my point, right?
Imagine that you are creating your future reality by writing this letter. You have the power to make your life into whatever you want it to be, just by writing. So, I recommend taking time and putting thought and real effort into today's Challenge.
Who knows, a year from now, this letter could be what gives you the little boost of motivation and self-confidence that you need.
When writing your first letter, please keep in mind that the second letter is to be looked at in 3 years...meaning that you might want to include short- term goals in the first, and long-term goals in the second.
Now, I know it is going to be a Challenge in itself to keep up with this letter for three years. A lot changes. You could move, get a new phone, maybe even decide you don't need this letter to help you any more. That's perfectly fine. If you know that you have or will reach the place you are trying to get to in life, then maybe you don't need the second letter.
But for those of us who aren't so certain what the future holds, this letter is for us.
What goals do you hope your future self would have accomplished? Graduation? Buying your first house? Landing that first big job?
YOU know the goals that you have for yourself. YOU know what you need to do. Write it out! Speak--well, write it into existence!
I have already written my first letter, and I will work on the second one after I finish this blog post. Please let me know if you have any questions about what to write, or need a prompt to get yourself going!
Best of luck on today's Challenge!💋✨
Hi Moguls/ Mogulettes! Good morning!
Thank God it's Friday!!!
Whoop whoop! We made it through yet another week! Was everyone able to wrap up their weekly goal lists? If not, no worries. You still have some time!
Today, I want to introduce you guys a new word.
I came across this bad boy in one of my meditation readings, and I think it encompasses everything we are aiming for with this Challenge! If you have any experience with psych, you may be familiar with it already. It is quite possible that I am late to the game on this one! Oh well.
Anyway, the word is...
Autotelic: adj. having a purpose in itself.
A person with an autotelic personality has a preference for challenging opportunities (like a lot of you taking this Challenge), learning new skills, and encouraging growth. These character traits come together to create a "flow" personality or experience, as Mihaly describes it.
These are people who need few material possessions, power, or fame because everything that they do is rewarding and purposeful in and of itself.
Friends, we should strive to always do things purely because of the purpose it serves and not for some underlying benefit. We should live purposefully so that anything we do we may find rewarding. Fame or no fame, money or no money!
We should be less dependent on rewards from external sources. We need not seek validation because WE know that what we are doing means something. We are fully immersed in the work that we do and the meaning behind it.
I just feel like this is such a valuable trait to have. I know that I am definitely going to work on this for myself.
Some people in this world only see dollar $ign$...
They chase money, power, and prestige. But from here on out, we want to find reward in doing something simple for doing it. We should not be so easily manipulated by external factors.
I challenge you all to take something ordinary, like doing laundry, cooking, mowing the lawn, etc. and view it as an opportunity for growth. The real test is being autotelic when it comes to boring activities and looking at it as an opportunity for growth.
You should be able to find true enjoyment and contentment in everything you do.
Best of luck with today's Challenge!💋✨
Only six more days until the end of our Challenge! How are you feeling?! I hope you've learned at least a couple practices that you can use to get closer to your goals!!
Thank you so much to everyone who has shared their insight and feedback with me as we move through this Challenge! It makes it so much easier to help others! I really appreciate it. I so hope this Challenge serves you well!
Now, let's get back to bettering ourselves with Day 25 of our 31-Day Personal Growth Challenge!
Today's challenge is a deliberate and thoughtful one. Ready? Let's get started!
I want you to provide a powerful change. For yourself, for your community, which ever you would rather do. Or both. This change could be...
Joining a gym. Planting a tree. Cleaning up your community. Volunteering. Extending yourself to others. These are just a few suggestions!
The point is to get you thinking about how you can make an impact! Ask yourselves: "what is the one thing that I can do today, that will have a significant impact in my life or the lives of others?"
Whatever it is, DO IT. No need to wait for some huge opportunity to come flying at you, it may or may not come.
Every where you go, every person you meet is an opportunity to provide a positive and powerful change. You have the ability to impact others, even if it is in a small way. It probably won't take too much energy, and it won't cost you a thing. In fact, you should feel joyful that you were able to make this change.
You have the power to make extraordinary changes, both in your life and in the world! Why not use your potential? And who knows, the change that you make may have a ripple effect on you/your life and send you in a direction you wouldn't usually find yourself moving in!
Choose to step up and share your energy with others. We can change the world by connecting positively and purely with those we come in contact with. All it takes is a good intention and the choice to make an impact.
You already have all of the tools that you need to make a difference.
Say it with me:
"I have the power to make a change."
Best of luck with this Challenge!💋✨
Happy #WorkingWomanWednesday!!! You know this is my favorite day of the week because I can shower you ladies with love!!! I'm here to tell you that there is nothing sexier than a woman who is determined to rise!
How you guys doing today? I hope everyone has been able to check a few more things off of their weekly goal list!
We will begin today's Challenge shortly, but first I want to take a look at this quote from the well-known Greek philosopher, Socrates.
"The secret to change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new."
Day 24 of our Personal Growth Challenge is all about focus.
Everyone has their own distractions and things that get you off track. As long as you can keep progressing, you're fine. If you're not applying yourself properly, then I urge you to get more focused and disciplined!
Focus on opportunities and planning. Focus on the bigger picture. The future.
Focus on the important things.
Why? Because where your focus goes, your energy goes. And if you're putting your energy into your goals/plans on a daily basis, you're bound to get closer & closer to reaching them! You need to stick with that mind set until you make it to where you want to be in life.
To get you used to the idea of being focused, I want you guys to pay attention to every simple thing that you do today.
If you are sitting, notice yourself as you are now. How is your posture? Sit up straight. Look alert, and be with purpose.
If you are working, check to make sure that you eliminated all distractions. What is most important? Don't check your phone, email, or social media until you've finished! Focus on your tasks.
If you are eating, notice what it is that you are putting into your body. Are you eating healthy? You should feed your mind so that you can have more brain power.
Just focus on what you are doing! You may even pick up on little things you've never noticed about yourself. By focusing on regular, every day tasks, you will build your willpower to focus on your larger goals.
The next step should be channeling all of that same focus directly into yourself and your goals!! A little focus can change yourself and your life in a big way. Trust me!
Say it with me:
I. Am. Focused.
Be sure to feed your focus and starve your distractions!
Best of luck with today's Challenge!✨💋
Good morning, Moguls/Mogulettes!
I hope everyone is having a productive week so far, and that this rain isn't keeping anyone from being great! The weather has just been so blah lately. I'm trying not to let it kill my vibe.
ANYWAY, what steps are you guys taking on this blessed Tuesday to reach your goals? Whatever it is, that's awesome!! Pat yourself on the back for being one step closer to your end game. Oh, and...
Always remember: the only failure is INACTION.
With that being said, let's take a look at today's Challenge!
Today, we are going to talk about mental toughness.
This may be a new concept to some of you guys, or you may be total pros already. Either way, keep reading to make sure that you know all you need to know!
If this is new to you, then let me explain.
Why does this matter?
Think about it this way. Your brain is a muscle. Probably the strongest one you have! YOU MUST DEVELOP IT! The same way you would any other muscle. It can grow. It can expand. It can become stronger. Sharper.
Okay. So how do you become mentally tough?
This can happen in a number of different ways. I can say from experience that the easiest and quickest way to do this is on an app on your smart phone! Personally, I have been playing various mental games at least once a day for the last two and a half years.
I kid you not. I have played a total of 688 times.
My favorite is solitaire. Yes, that is a card game. Yes, that improves your mental strength.
Mind = blown.
I know. Me too!! I read about something similar in an article a couple years ago, and ever since then, I have been consistent with my mental games! I always try to beat my time and my score too. Just as little friendly self-competition.
If card games aren't you thing, then you can always go old school. Crossword puzzles, Sudoku, anything that gets you thinking differently and strategizing, is what we want.
How else can you get mentally strong?
Physical strength may get you to the starting line, but it's that mental strength you need to get to the finish line.
The goal is to be physically and emotionally strong, but mentally indestructible. You've got this! Just keep developing that brain power! Start NOW! Go download whichever app you wish and get started!
Best of luck with today's Challenge! 💋✨
Are you ready to have a productive & prosperous week? I know you are! Make sure to start on that weekly goal list!
As you very well know, the idea behind this entire Challenge was to develop the very best versions of ourselves. As we near the end of our Challenge, I just want to make sure we get a couple more lessons/exercises set into our routine!
Easy enough, right?
No. Not always. Sometimes things/people get in the way of our growth. We may not even realize it, because we love that thing or that person.
This morning, I'm here to give you guys a little jump start to get your week going in the right direction and talk about how you can move beyond those situations!
Friends, for today's Challenge I want us all to...
REMOVE OUR BIGGEST OBSTACLE.
What is the biggest thing keeping you from your goals? Your happiness? The life you want? The kind of person you want to be?
Seriously! THINK about it!
Side Note: The reality is that some times life gets in the way of your growth. It happens. In those situations, all you can do is go with the flow, adapt, and keep moving forward until you meet the next obstacle that life has waiting for you.
Please understand that we aren't talking about those kinds of obstacles.
We want to focus on the things that WE can control. Which, in the grand scheme of things, is not much, but still. It's enough to have a impact.
I'm talking about that bad smoking habit. A toxic or stunting relationship. A junk food obsession. Laziness. A crappy work ethic. Your distracting environment. Those negative/unmotivated friends.
ANYTHING KEEPING YOU FROM BEING GREAT GOTS TO GO! Today and every other day! If it doesn't help you grow, you don't need it.
Hell, you can't afford it.
But what if...
Plot twist: Your biggest obstacle is yourself.
Obviously, you can't remove yourself. What you can do is make very real efforts to change yourself and your behavior. I have a feeling that if you are doing this Growth Challenge, then you're already open to doing so!
This may sound crazy, but this is very real. You (and your choices/decisions) may be the only thing standing in your way, even if you don't realize it!
If you think that this may apply to you, then maybe one or all of the following are something you can work on:
I want you to walk away from this Challenge feeling free to move forward towards your goals and the best version of yourself! Nothing should stand in your way, not even you! Your mind should be clear, and sharp. Your heart should be open and content.
Because you have the power to overcome anything that stands in your way!
Nobody said it would be easy. Just know that the real growth happens when it's hard as hell.
Best of luck with today's Challenge! You've got this!✨💋
